Bathymetric Geospatial data could play an important role in setting the pace of development in maritime and related sectors. Obtaining bathymetric data from resources and is being used for safety in the sea is another aspect of this. This portal is capable of providing the bathymetric geospatial data along with a number of analytic tools.
Three dimensional visualisation of the bed surface of waterbody is made available for the users.
The Hydrographic Survey Wing of Kerala State plays an important role in Port/Harbor - led development, inland navigation, protection of water bodies etc by providing the vast set of bathymetric data collected through decades and by serving as a data resource for research purposes. These data are distributed among the needed organization and people through paper charts or PDF charts. The lack of visualization of actual ground scenario was a drawback, at the times. But through the development of this portal the data on a geospatial mode, Made the convenience and understanding of information about the study area easy. The digital revolution in this field will make the paper chart disappear from the scene. More flexible and efficient sharing and delivery of data is made possible. This portal will ensure the accessibility of Hydrographic survey Data and various services from anywhere. The portal will act as a web based platform for efficient management of all hydrographic data encompassing communication, gathering and sharing of data.
The Hydrographic Survey Wing of the Kerala state is a specialist survey and investigation wing constituted with a view to cater the requirements of hydrographic investigations for the development of minor and intermediate ports of the Maritime state of Kerala. The wing is now capable of taking up all hydrographic investigations on all types of waterbodies such as sea, ports, harbours, canals, reservoirs, rivers, lakes and ponds. Mostly the wing conducts pre and post monsoon surveys, pre and post dredging surveys for various developmental activities in this sector and to examine the quantitative aspects of dredging.
Hydrographic survey wing engage in various project surveys for a number of organisations in both public and private sector. The data collected by the wing is forwarded to National Hydrographic Office (Indian Navy), Dehradun, as and when required. The unique and vast information collected by this wing through years is digitized and made available online as a part of implementation of digital governance of the wing. HYMSYS portal is one step towards the complete digital governance of the wing.
Visualise bathymetric data as footprints over interactive web maps
The major objective of this portal is the visualization of geospatial bathymetric data having different layers of coastal geographic details and tools for simple analysis.Mapping of entire waterbodies within the state.
Bathymetric data is expected to play a potentially important role in flourishing the blue economy in India. This initiative from Hydrographic Survey Wing has a vision to achieve the ultimate use of vast datasets to fuel the development in every related fields.
Liberation of data by providing the bathymetric data in an online platform with not so complicated visualizations. The part of development activity will be enhanced by the reduced time for obtaining data resources.
The source data used for 2D/3D modelling is sonar-sounding surveys conducted by the Hydrographic Survey wing Kerala.
The footprint of each survey mission conducted by Hydrographic Survey wing mission that has been marked in the WebGIS interface. By clicking the footprint you will get the details of the survey.
Hydrographic Survey Wing kerala conducts hydrographic survey of sea, inland waterbodies, reservoirs etc.
You can see the footprint of the survey in the WebGIS interface.
